The National Museum of Ireland is proud to announce that its Natural History site in Merrion Street has welcomed over 1 million visitors since it re-opened in April 2010 - almost 300,000 visitors a year.

Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has provided a Departmental grant of €45,000 to enable the digitisation of some of the most important paper-based documents held by the National Museum of Ireland.

The Board of the National Museum of Ireland has announced the appointment of Mr. Raghnall Ó Floinn as Director of the National Museum of Ireland. The appointment follows an international search for a Director to succeed Dr. Patrick Wallace who retired from the post at the end of February 2012.

The hoard will go on display in the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks from today.
