The National Museum of Ireland - Country Life has a fantastic programme of events to celebrate the arts festival Bealtaine this May

21 April 2017, Ongoing throughout May, Turlough Park (Country Life).

Come along to the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life this Bealtaine to enjoy a great programme of talks and events celebrating creativity and ageing. 

The museum is delighted to participate in Bealtaine 2017, organised by Age & Opportunity.

All events listed below are free. Booking is required for some as places may be limited. 


Craft demonstration: 'Take a Dash of the Churn'

2pm Sunday April 30th

Join expert craftsperson Pat Broderick for a butter making demonstration. Then explore some of the many customs associated with the month of May, which was a major seasonal marker for our rural ancestors in times gone by.

Exhibition: In My Grandfather's Time 

Opening Tuesday May 9th

See a beautiful exhibition of work by well-known photographer Jack Leonard (1882-1960) in Brambles Café at the museum. Jack Leonard's work captured some of the most important sporting, social and political events in the early 1900s in the west of Ireland. Admission free.


Talk: In My Grandfather's Time

Join Anthony Leonard for this talk on the extraordinary work of his grandfather Jack Leonard. Learn about Jack Leonard's work and then share your own memories and photographs.
