Dr. Daire Keogh president of St Patrick’s College Drumcondra will hold a panel discussion with a number of guest speakers to discuss how the events of the Easter Rising and WW1 impacted on the lives of people in rural Ireland.
Biography of Panelists
Dr. Daire Keogh
Writer and researcher Philip Orr lives in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. He taught English and Drama for many years at secondary level and remains involved in community education within Loyalist communities. His books include Field of Bones: An Irish Division at Gallipoli (2006), Tom's Story – Sentry Hill and the Great War (2007) and New Loyalties: Christian Faith and the Protestant Working Class. His forthcoming book, entitled, Brink of War, will be published in 2011 and explores the political and religious tensions in Co. Antrim during the Home Rule Crisis.
