Finding a Voice: Dermot Bolger Writer in Residence
Museum of Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Museum of Country Life, Co Mayo, Poetry Ireland
Finding a Voice: Dermot Bolger Writer in Residence National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts and History and Country Life in partnership with Poetry Ireland - March to December 2016
As part of the 2016 Decade of Centenaries Public Engagement Programme, novelist, playwright and poet, Dermot Bolger, will be Writer in Residence at the National Museum of Ireland, Decorative Arts and History.
While the wealth of cultural and historical material held within the Museum's collections has provided inspiration for a wide range of creative responses in a variety of art forms, this is the first time that the Museum has created a writer in residence initiative. The residency, which is a collaborative project between the National Museum of Ireland and Poetry Ireland, will extend from March to December 2016 and will take inspiration from the Museum’s Easter Week Collections.
Finding a Voice: Dermot Bolger Writer in Residence aims to engage a wide range of audiences in themes and object histories that form the core of the Proclaiming a Republic Exhibition.
The programme will be comprised of four distinct strands: a schools' workshop programme; a local community workshop programme, an Online Mentoring Clinic and the In Conversation with Dermot Bolger series of talks. Part of this will also involve two weekends of workshops, talks and other events at the Museum of Country Life, Co Mayo.
Events are free, unless otherwise stated but booking is essential.
