Workshop - Be a Fashion Detective!

Students will explore Irish fashion and get hands on experience of fabrics and fibre.

In this gallery based workshop students explore social historical themes such as a comparison of “rich and poor”, changes over time from manufacturing in nineteenth-century Ireland to the global mass production of today, and how our clothes communicate messages about who we are. Students will work in small groups and use clue cards prompt their exploration of a character and their garments.

They will also have an opportunity to get hands on experiences of fabric, raw fibre and accessories as well as presenting their findings back to their peers.
