Opening Hours, Location and Facilities

The National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History is located at Collins Barracks, Benburb Street, Dublin 7. 

Please note the 18 pounder Field Gun 9168: Lost and Found exhibit is temporarily closed

Please note that the Military History galleries are temporarily partially closed 

We regret that the Asgard exhibition will be temporarily closed from Monday 15th to Friday 19th April

Opening hours

  • Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm
  • Sunday and Monday 1pm - 5pm
  • Christmas Eve 10am - 12pm
  • Closed Christmas Day, St. Stephen's Day and Good Friday

Online Ticketing 

Education and Community group bookings must contact the Bookings Office at bookings@museum.ie.


Shop Opening Hours

The Museum shop is open during Museum opening times.


Visitor information

Our knowledgeable staff are on hand to assist you with any questions. You will find help and assistance, should you need it, at the reception desk on the ground floor at the main entrance.


Parking   

Visitor parking at Collins Barracks is PAY & DISPLAY:

  • €2 for one hour
  • €5 for four hours
  • €10 full day (8am – 6pm)
  • €40 weekly
  • There is no overnight parking

Car Park Opening Hours 

There will be no public parking available at our Collins Barracks site from Monday 11 – Thursday 21st March inclusive (except for disabled parking - see below)

  • Monday-Wednesday - Friday- Saturday 7.30am - 6pm (gates close 6.30pm)
  • Thursday (late opening during July, August & September) 7.30-8.00 (gate closes 8.30)
  • Sunday 1pm - 5.30pm (gates close 6pm)

Accessible Parking

There are seven designated blue badge parking spaces.

Cloakroom

Limited cloakroom services are currently available. Visitors are encouraged not to bring any items larger than a backpack to the Museum. 


Toilets

Accessible toilets are located at the:

  • Reception desk
  • Ground floor of the Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition

Parenting Facilities

Baby changing facilities are available within all toilet facilities throughout the museum.

It is possible to take pushchairs/strollers around the Museum as it is fully accessible with lifts, ramps, and wide doors. 


Luggage Storage Restrictions

Limited luggage storage services are currently available. Visitors are encouraged not to bring any items larger than a backpack to the Museum. Large backpacks, bags or suitcases should be left in the cloakroom for your convenience while visiting the Museum. Please ask at the reception desk for assistance when you arrive.


Lifts and Access to the Galleries

All galleries in Collins Barracks are fully accessible. The site has four lifts, located in the main reception area, in the east corner servicing floors one to three of the decorative arts section of the museum. There are two lifts in the Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition.

Seating

There are seating areas available in the majority of galleries. Mobile stools are available upon request. Wheelchairs are also available at the reception desk if required.
