For Language Schools
Find out how to get more from your classes visit to the Museum
The following guidelines are in place to ensure your group gets the most from their visit:
Book Your Visit
All groups must book ahead of their visit to the Museum, failure to book may mean when the Museum is busy, your group will be delayed entering the Museum. To arrange a visit please book at least two weeks in advance with the Bookings Office. You will know your request to visit is approved when you receive a Booking Confirmation Form..
Please consider doing pre-visit preparation in class to help students understand what they are seeing. Consider creating lessons about Ireland's natural history or the natural world ahead of your visit.
You can find information about what is on display on the Exhibition pages.
Take a look at the Museum activity sheets and set your students the challenge of completing one while visiting the Museum.
At the Museum
When you arrive at the Museum please show your Booking Confirmation Form to Museum Reception staff. We ask you before entry to split your group into smaller groups of 15 for their visit.
Students must be supervised by a minimum ratio of 15 students to 1 member of your staff.
Group Leaders must accompany their group at all times to ensure students behave in a suitable manner.
Respect for the Museum
Like all groups, language school students are expected to behave in a courteous and respectful way to the museum staff and other visitors and we ask that you ensure your group acts as follows:
No running in the galleries
No eating in the galleries or the Reading Area
No sitting on the stairs
Littering is prohibited anywhere on the Museum site
Respect other tours/ individuals in the gallery spaces
The Reading Area is our dedicated space for families only
For further information, please read the Museum's Code of Conduct for Groups.
Failure to comply with the above may result in your group being asked to leave the Museum and in our inability to accept bookings from your organisation in the future. Please bring this to the attention of all staff and students.
