Draw in the Museum
Are you an artists or an art student? Visit and be inspired by our animal exhibits for your drawing and sketching.
We have a huge range of animals and geological exhibits that provide a rich source for sketching, researching, and examining.
As some of these can be easily damaged or defaced by art materials and/or the action of some art techniques, we would ask you to help us minimise the possibility of damage by following these guidelines:
Animals and cases should not be touched, or used to lean against. In a few galleries an occasional item is clearly marked as a 'handling object'. Ask an attendant if you are unsure. Please bring only the minimal amount of coats/bags/items you need as there is no cloakroom in this Museum.
The use of wet materials, spray paints, adhesives and fixatives is prohibited in all galleries. They contain substances that may damage the Museum's collections, and may present a risk to the well-being of other visitors.
You are welcome to use personal audio equipment within the Museum. Please be considerate of other visitors.
Stools are available for all visitors to borrow. Please ask at the Reception Desk.
Please note that the Museum does not accept any liability for the loss or damage of personal belongings or equipment.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us before your visit.
