Plan Your Visit

For more information about how to book a visit to the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, please watch this video, or follow the steps outlined below

1. Look at our list of resources, tours and workshops

Our activities and resources meet a range of key curriculum links at Primary and Post Primary level.

Once your booking is processed, we’ll send a booking confirmation. If you have any further queries contact our bookings office.

Now that you have booked your visit, get prepared by watching this video which will outline the key guidelines for visiting the Museum

Get prepared

Get the most from the Museum with some pre-visit preparation, and plan some follow-up project work for your classroom.

  • Download your activity sheets or activity pack

  • Let us know which activity book would suit your group well in advance so we can have them ready for you when you arrive

  • Print your booking confirmation and bring it with you

  • Plan dividing larger groups up for some of our smaller galleries

  • Know where you are going
  •
  • Come on time!

Museum in the Classroom

You can still explore the Museum virtually, as well as engage with the National Collections, through our website. We have launched a programme of online events, activities and resources for teachers, which are curriculum-linked and designed to complement classroom learning, whilst also being engaging and enjoyable. A variety of themes and topics are explored, for both Primary and Post-Primary students. These resources will be updated through the term, so we would advise visiting these webpages regularly.

We have also developed Virtual Sessions for schools with Museum Educators, which will cover specific curriculum-linked topcs. These sessions are available on Tuesday mornings.

Please find a link to the Primary level resources at the NMI - Decorative Arts & History here and the Post-Primary level resources here

You can also contact the Bookings Office at bookings@museum.ie if you have any further queries about any of the Education Department's online resources.
