Shrine of the Book of Dimma, Roscrea, Co Tipperary. 12th century
2010:255 Replica by Edmund Johnson, Dublin, c. 1890-91
The original, now in the Library of Trinity College, Dublin, was made to enshrine the eighth-century Book of Dimma. This shrine shows evidence of at least three periods of remodelling, the latest of which dates to the fourteenth century with a cross and a Latin inscription to Tadhg Ua Cearbaill, king of Éile.
