Self-guided Activities
This exhibition includes an area where the public can touch and examine in detail six special objects from the Museum’s collection; an elephants tusk, an elephants lower jaw, a white rhino skull, a piece of the Giant’s Causeway, a trace fossil and an ammonite.
The exhibition also includes a Resource Area, which contains books on natural history topics and which the public can use to read more about topics relating to objects in the exhibition. There are also two computers, which allow access to information about Natural History, Earth Sciences, Museums, and the environment.
An activity booklet My Favourite Animal is available in Irish and in English. Copies are available in the entrance area into the exhibition or you can download a copy here:
Inspectoriums
Saturday Afternoons 2pm to 4pm
This is a drop-in event based in the Discovery Den and provides a chance to have a closer look at the objects in the Natural History handling collection.
Inspectoriums will take place at regular intervals on every second Saturday from May 16th 2009.
Summer Holidays
Inspectoriums will also take place from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday & Thursday afternoons during July and August.
My Museum Programme
Sunday afternoons
From July onwards on one Sunday a month from 3pm to 4pm the Dead Zoo at Large will host a family event as part of the My Museum programme.
They will all take place in the Discovery Den within the Riding School.
Adult Gallery Talks
One Saturday a month
There will be a special talk on a theme inspired by the exhibition from July onwards.
