Crafts and the Environment - Country Life National Museum of Ireland

Plan ahead: use this information to help you plan your trip ahead of time.


Visits take on average two or three hours. The Museum is usually less crowded on weekdays. You should also check that the Museum is open on the day you intend to visit - see Opening Hours.

Getting Here

The Museum of Country Life is most easily accessible by car. See Find Us for directions and transport options.

There's so much to see at the Museum, you can take a break for lunch at the Café and come back to the galleries when you are ready.

Do not touch

It is a natural response to want to touch things, however, the Museum has to discourage this as the cumulative effects of abrasion, grease and sweat can result in irreparable damage to the objects.

There are some touchable exhibits within the Museum. Please ask a staff member or attendant to help you locate these.

Mobile Phone Use

To ensure a pleasant environment for all visitors, please refrain from using your mobile phone inside the Museum.

Photography Policy

Hand-held cameras may be used in the galleries however the use of flash, video cameras, tripods and other digital equipment is not permitted.

Photographs taken in the galleries can only be used for personal use. Commercial use of any kind is not permitted.
