Whet your appetite for history on a short stroll through the galleries, learning more about key artefacts on the way.  Who owned them? How did they end up in the Museum? What do they mean today?

Free public tours take place on the last Sunday of most months. Check What's On for up-to-date information. No booking required, places allocated on a first-come basis.

Learn more about an exhibition with the person who created it. Delve a little deeper with a Museum Curator to discover about bloody conflict, or elegant designs in fashion, furniture and silver! Find out more about the lives of people from the objects they left behind.

Babies on Board Tour

Please note this programme is postponed in 2014 but we hope to resume in 2015.

Babies on Board Tour

Are you a parent or carer with a young baby or pre-toddler in tow? Join us for a thought-provoking tour, and relax in the cafe afterwards. We meet on the last Thursday of every month, exploring a different theme each time.

It's free, buggies are welcome and discounts in the cafe are available after the tour.

Furniture Conservation Studio

Ever wondered how a two hundred year old silk stocking survived? Or wanted to see the latest archaeological find before it goes on display? The Museum Conservators invite you to see their work as it happens in the Conservation Studio.
