The Museum has archival holdings in excess of 3,500 boxes of papers and over 200,000 photographic images. Our archives also include 18th and 19th Century records and drawings, manuscript catalogues and lists, and continuous files from 1877 to date.
The care and maintenance of the archives, housed by the National Museum of Ireland over all four sites, includes: surveying records; making recommendations concerning storage; cataloguing; and the preservation or disposal of records. It also involves undertaking work on the arrangement and description of archives. Access to the archives is available to the public by appointment only.
