This room is displayed as the bedroom of a young lady who is wrapping her presents in 1930s Christmas paper and putting up her Art Deco Christmas cards.
It's Christmas Eve and the young lady has a cocktail party to attend – her dress hangs freshly pressed and shoes placed carefully on the floor. As she finishes wrapping her Christmas presents of perfume and books she sips a cup of tea along with two freshly baked gingerbread biscuits.
Two small artificial trees adorn her Ferranti electric radiant heater. During the early years of the twentieth century artificial trees were made using goose feathers that were dyed green. Feather Christmas trees ranged widely in size, from a small 2-inch tree to a large 98-inch tree sold in department stores during the 1920s. Often, the tree branches were tipped with artificial red berries which acted as candle holders.
