Explore and Learn

The National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History is a resource for students and educators, families, and people of all ages.

The Education & Outreach service aims to provide a range of opportunities for all visitors to engage with the collections and to act as an advocate for audiences in developing better learning opportunities.

At the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History you can:

Learn through observation of original artefacts.

Investigate how historians work to understand about life, work, culture and society in the past.

Look for evidence using primary resources, through 'discovery' learning.

Study history, local history, art, craft and design, art history, religious knowledge, drama, geography, mathematics and science.

Make links across a range of subjects through an integrated and cross-curricular approach to learning.

The Education team currently provide an education service that includes an information and resource service; guided tours; gallery based talks; workshops; seminars and lecture series; professional development courses and activities for teachers; special events held annually such as Summer Schools and Christmas and Easter programmes. Key audiences include the formal education sector, families and adult learners.
