Explore & Learn

The National Museum of Ireland is a resource for students and educators, families, and people of all ages.

The Education and Outreach programme aims to facilitate people to explore and engage with the exhibitions and collections through a range of learning opportunities including storytelling, drama, historical re-enactments, creative writing and art.

Engaging with the National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology's Education programme enables people to:

Learn through observation of original artefacts;

Investigate how archaeologists work to understand about life, work, culture and society in the past;

Look for evidence about the past by examining handling objects and through 'discovery' learning;

Engage with objects through handling and other senory based experience;

Study archaeology, art history, religious knowledge, drama, geography, mathematics and science;

Make links across a range of subjects through an integrated and cross-curricular approach to learning.

The Education team currently provides an education programme that includes guided tours; gallery based talks; workshops; seminars and lecture series; professional development courses and activities for teachers; special annual events such as for the Beatlaine Festival, Heritage Week and events during school holidays at mid-term, Christmas, Easter and during the Summer.
