National Appeal for Asgard Material and Images
The National Museum of Ireland is currently conserving and restoring Erskine Childers’ historic yacht, Asgard, which brought guns and ammunition used in the 1916 Rising into Ireland in 1914. This unique and historic vessel is undergoing a detailed programme of conservation and restoration that will return her to original built form while saving the majority of her original structure.
In order to make Asgard as authentic as possible we are seeking original objects and components from the vessel that may exist to add to the depth and accuracy of the structural restoration programme. We also seek specific photographs that show details of Asgard’s deck and interior structures.
