Anthony Read joined the Museum in 1997. As Head of the Conservation department he is responsible for the conservation of collections across all Museum sites. He previously worked as Antiquities Conservator for Leicestershire Museum’s Arts and Records Service. His qualifications include: BSc (Archaeological Conservation); Postgraduate Diploma (Museum Studies); MA Architectural Conservation.
In the course of his work at the National Museum of Ireland he has developed a particular interest in the more unusual archaeological finds that have come from the Irish bogs and their incredible preservative properties.
