Paul Doyle joined the Museum in 1973. Since then he has worked as a curator in the Art & Industry division; has had responsibility at various times for the
Arms and Armour,
Glass and
Ceramics and the
Furniture and
Musical Instrument collections; and has curated many exhibitions including
Irish Period Furniture and
Out of Storage at Collins Barracks. He is a former Manager/Keeper of, and was instrumental in setting up, the
National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, County Mayo.
As Registrar he is responsible for the documentation, transfer and location management of the Museum’s collections and maintaining the Museum’s collection management database. He is also responsible for the management of the Museum’s archives, central library, and for the administration of museum loans. His interests include the history of the Irish Labour movement and Dublin gunmakers of the 19th Century. He holds a degree in Industrial Relations and is currently a director of the Irish Museums Association.
