Outreach
The Education & Outreach department offers a limited outreach service, primarily to national schools that are part of the Deis Scheme and to community groups. Education staff can deliver workshops, demonstrations and talks in the classroom or at an offsite location, bringing the Museum to you.
Since the the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life opened in September 2001 outreach services have been delivered to many schools across the country. Other groups that have benefited from this free service include:
- Baboró International Arts Festival for Children
- Plearaca Festival – Celebration of the Arts in the Gaeltacht Region

Featured Outreach
School Centenary Celebrations 2007 Killavullen NS, Mallow, Co. Cork
Staff from the Education & Outreach department visited Killavullen NS as part of the school’s 100-year celebrations. The theme chosen by the organisers was ‘Sport & Games in the Community’. One hundred and fifty children aged 5 - 13years from Killavullen, and the two neighbouring schools of Ballygown and Rathan, took part in Traditional Games and Traditional Toys workshops. The activities were scheduled over two days and the children got into the spirit of the festivities by dressing up in old-fashioned clothes.
