St. Brigid's Cross, South Ulster

Life in the Community Level C

St. Brigid's Cross, South Ulster

People within the community knew each other as relatives, friends, and neighbours. These were the people the family would turn to for things they could not make themselves, and with whom they would celebrate and grieve.

This exhibition looks at a year in the life of a community and examines events such as St Brigid’s day (pictured right is a St Brigid's Cross, South Ulster), St Patrick’s day, Easter, May Day, and festivals such as Lúnasa, Samhain and Christmas. Other events such as christenings, first day at school, weddings and wakes are also examined.
