What can you do at the Museum?
The following resources are available free of charge to you and your group - just make a booking at least two weeks in advance of your visit. Find practical advice on planning your museum visit.
Learning Resource Room
Use the Learning Resource Room to start or follow up your visit to the Museum galleries. The room can accomodate up to 30. Resources available include an interactive whiteboard, research area, library of books relating to the Museum's exhibitions and basic drawing and art materials. The room will be supervised by a Museum educator - contact us for more information or make your booking.
Barracks Life Room
This interactive gallery aims to tell the stories of the soldiers who lived in Collins Barracks in the past. A visit to this gallery is worth making if you're visiting any of the galleries in the Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition. There are reconstructions of beds with soldiers' kit laid out in order, interactive computer games, displays of original objects and uniforms to try on. What’s in the Museum? Teachers’ Resource pack
This pack is for teachers bringing groups to Collins Barracks for a general introduction to the Museum. The pack contains 10 easy-to-follow factsheets for teachers to give their own tour of two of the galleries. The pack also provides curriculum links, a useful glossary and suggestions on things to talk about with your class as well as ideas for pre- and post-visit activities.

Handling Objects Box
This resource can help students explore and learn about Ireland's social history through handling real and replica objects. Explore the exhibition, 'The Way We Wore: 250 Years of Irish Clothing and Jewellery' through replica corsets and undergarments, shoes, gloves and other materials.
