General Tour
The objective of the general tour is to provide students at second level with an introduction to the collections within the museum.
The tour is tailored to meet their educational needs in the Junior Cycle Curriculum. Through archaeological evidence, the tour traces the development of Irish Civilization, from the arrival of the first people in the Mesolithic to late Medieval Ireland.
Highlights include, Ireland’s Gold and the Treasury Collection, which houses relevant artefacts such as the Broighter Hoard, the Ardagh Chalice and the Tara Brooch (pictured above).

Specialised Tours
Specialised tours can be focused on specific aspects of the collections. Examples of these including aspects of the Stone Age, Bronze Age or tours of a more general theme such as the archaeology of a specific county.
