A special day of talks and debate at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts and History to mark the 96th anniversary of the Easter Rising

How should Ireland commemorate and remember the 1916 Easter Rising in the future?

The National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts and History, Collins Barracks, is holding a day of talks and discussion on Saturday 28th April to mark the anniversary of the Easter Rising, 1916.

The day will provide opportunities to discuss ways of commemorating the 1916 Rising in light of the approaching centenary. A diverse panel of commentators and historians, chaired by Dr Margaret O’Callaghan, will put forward ideas on how this key moment in Irish history might be marked.

Later in the day, Michael Kenny and Sandra Heise of the National Museum will talk about key documents in the Museum’s collection, including the Proclamation of Independence – see programme below for details.

All of the events are free. Places are limited and will operate on a first come, first served basis. All events will start promptly and visitors are asked to come early to avoid disappointment.

Admission is free to all exhibitions.
