Opening Hours, Location and Facilities

The National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology is located at Kildare Street, Dublin 2, in the heart of Dublin City Centre.

Opening hours

  • Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm
  • Sunday and Monday 1pm - 5pm
  • Closed Christmas Day, St. Stephen's Day and Good Friday

Free admission

Admission to all four sites of the National Museum of Ireland is free.


Online ticketing

Education and Community group bookings must contacting the Bookings Office at bookings@museum.ie.


Shop opening hours

The Museum shop is open during Museum opening times.


Visitor information

Our knowledgeable staff are on hand to assist you with any questions. You will find help and assistance, should you need it, at the reception desk on the ground floor at the main entrance.


Parking

The nearest public paid car parks are off Dawson Street and at Setanta Place. Alternatively, there is on-street parking (pay by meter) around Merrion Square which is a 10-minute walk away.


Accessible parking

There are public blue badge disabled parking spaces available on the east side of Dawson Street, the North and West side of St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square West.


Toilets

Accessible toilets are located on the ground floor, on the far side of the central rotunda.


Parenting/baby changing facilities

Baby changing facilities are available within all toilet facilities throughout the Museum.


Left luggage and cloakroom

Cloakroom services are currently unavailable so please do not bring motorcycle helmets, suitcases or large bags into the exhibition galleries.


Lost property

Lost property queries can be made at the main reception desk on the ground floor. If you have already left the Museum, please contact +353 1 677 7444.


Filming and photography

Read the Museum's advice and policies on using multimedia equipment onsite

Hand-held cameras may be used in the galleries. However, the use of flash, video, tripods, and other professional digital equipment is not permitted.

Photographs taken in the galleries can only be used for personal use. Commercial use of any kind is not permitted.


Filming

Our Collections have been filmed for use in television, documentaries, videos and educational programmes. For permission please contact our Rights & Reproductions Office by emailing imagelibrary@museum.ie. We will require at least two weeks’ notice and a copy of your insurance indemnification before permission can be granted.


Commercial filming

Our locations and galleries have also been used for commercial film and television use as well as advertising and promotional campaigns. For enquiries in relation to commercial filming, please contact marketing@museum.ie
