3D Virtual Visit to the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History Goes Online
The National Museum of Ireland has partnered with Novegen Ltd. (www.novegen3d.com) who have generously sponsored a 3D Virtual Visit to the four floor levels of the Natural History Museum, on Merrion Street, Dublin 2.This online tour allows visitors to roam through the building and see the 10,000 animals on display using the latest imaging technologies. Access is more complete than for physical visitors to this site, as it includes balcony levels that are currently closed due to lack of sufficient fire exits at the higher levels in this 150 year old building.
Highlights include the giant deer Megaloceros from the Irish Ice Age, a 20 metre Fin Whale skeleton suspended from the roof, a Polar Bear shot in the 1850s by an Irish Arctic explorer and one of only a handful of Dodo skeletons in the world. A guidebook to the museum is available free online in five languages here.
To take the tour.
