The 1916 Roll of Honour was created on the 20th Anniversary as the official state listing of the men and women who took park in the 1916 Rising.
It is comprised of 45 pages with a total of 1,665 signatures of the survivors in 1936, along with the name of 254 of those who had been executed, killed in action and who had died since 1916.
It is divided according to the garrisons which served around Dublin City during Easter Week, and also includes lists of those who served at Ashbourne and the garrisons at Co. Louth and Co. Meath.
The Roll of Honour was presented to Éamon de Valera as part of the 20th anniversary commemorations of the Easter Rising and was lodged in the National Museum of Ireland, where it remains preserved for future generations.
This fascinating document is both a record of the men and women of the Rising and a document which is a product of its time.
On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the 1916 Rising the National Museum of Ireland is pleased to announce the Roll of Honour is now available online as a resource for the public, family members of the participants and researchers for the first time.
It can be viewed and searched on a dedicated section of the website of the National Museum of Ireland; http://microsites.museum.ie/rollofhonour1916/ ,where the public can search for names, view the pages containing the signatures, and also learn more about the history of the Roll of Honour itself.
