Call for Oral Historian - Stories Between Us Project

The National Museum is looking for an oral historian to join this intergenerational art and history project.

Artist Janine Davidson, the Education & Outreach Department of the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History and St Gabriel’s National School are looking for an oral historian to join the exciting intergenerational art and history project “Stories Between Us”.

We will be working with Henrietta St Adult Community Education, Phibsboro Retirement Group and primary school children from St Gabriel’s National School in order to archive a living history of the Dublin 7 area. Using objects as a catalyst for dialogue, we will explore personal experiences of past-times.

The role of the oral historian will be to provide one oral history training workshop for staff involved in the project and to run and record a series of three workshops where participants evolve and share their stories.

These workshops will inform the creation of a memory box of objects, which will go on display in the National Museum of Ireland in 2019.

“Stories Between Us” is supported by the Grangegorman Development Agency through ‘…the lives we live…’ Public Art programme. For further information go to www.ggda.ie/public_art.

When: Training session and Workshops (1.5hrs each) will take place in September - October 2018. Attendance at two planning meetings is also required.

Where: National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Dublin 7.

Overall Fee: 300€

Application Deadline: Friday, 29 June 2018.

Please email a short CV or a brief statement (max. 300 words) outlining relevant experience or by post to
