Learning at the National Museum of Ireland

The National Museum of Ireland offers inspiring and diverse ways for people to engage with our national collections.

Learning experiences for everyone

At the National Museum of Ireland we invite the widest range of people to engage in learning experiences, that stimulate imagination and curiosity, using the collections and exhibitions as inspiration. We create innovative learning opportunities, both on-site and online, for intergenerational and intercultural dialogue and interaction to encourage the sharing of stories and perspectives.

Specialised programmes and services

Our Learning Team develop specialised programmes and services for and with schools and teachers, families, adults and communities. Programmes include tours, workshops, virtual online sessions and resources, conferences and lectures, performances, special long-term projects and community exhibitions. We use our collection of handling objects in many of our programmes to stimulate memory, foster historical empathy and encourage interactivity using all our senses. Our educational resources support individuals and communities to self-direct and make choices about what they want to experience either in the galleries or virtually, through our online resources, for use in the classroom or at home. These are available at each of our four Museum sites and online.
