Tour: The Natural History Trail

Students get a general introduction to the Museum and discover the highlights of the 10,000 specimens on display during this tour. There is a focus on the 160 year history of the collection, the secrets behind taxidermy and the unique stories of the zoological and geological animals and fossils that are on display in the Irish Room and Mammals of the World exhibition.

Join zoologist educator Catherine McGuinness and on this tour learn about the great Irish explorers and the animals they brought back to the Natural History Museum! As part of the tour, complete a fun activity to find other animals on a map as you explore the Mammals of the World Exhibition. Dates for this very special tour are limited so to avoid disappoinment please book early.

What makes birds so special and are they really dinosaurs? Journey with Jamie through the Dead Zoo's display of song birds, falcons, ducks, geese, waders and much much more! Visit the National Gallery of Ireland and the Museum of Natural History to see both the Curious Creatures – Frans Post & Brazil exhibition and a Victorian museum filled with taxidermy! During the hands-on workshop at the Museum of Natural History, touch different skulls of curious creatures from South America and explore the Mammals of the World exhibition with a Museum Educator.
