Bealtaine Online Workshop: Viking Needle Binding

As part of the Bealtaine festival, celebrating the arts and creativity as we age, the National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology, will present a special online workshop about needle binding, which is a time correct textile technique for the Viking Age, with Ellen Hagen from the Museum of Archaeology at the University of Stavanger, Norway. During this online event, Ellen will present the history and uses of ‘N√•lbindning’, or needle binding, and will demonstrate the technique for you to try at home. This online pre-recorded workshop, will be followed by a live online question and answer segment with Ellen Hagen.

This is a closed YouTube live event with a pre-recorded lecture and live Q&A and will be approximately 45 minutes in duration. Booked attendees will receive a link closer to the event to view the lecture on YouTube. 

Materials will not be provided for this workshop, however, a full list of recommended materials required to do needle binding will be provided to attendees. Attendees will also be provided with information sheets and instructions on how to do needle binding.
