A native of Cahir Achadh Mór, Maura Mulligan dibbled the spuds and danced on the stage in the 1940’s & 50’s. She sailed to America in 1958. In the bustling new world of New York, she has had a few interesting jobs that you can read about in her memoir, “Call of the Lark” published in 2012 by Greenpoint Press, New York.

A retired NYC Public School teacher, Maura Mulligan earned a Master’s Degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Currently, she writes articles for the Irish Echo newspaper and teaches Irish language and Céilí dance in NYC. A member of Irish America Writers & Artists, she has given readings in N.Y, N.J, Philadelphia and several venues in Ireland. She is founder of Nollaig Na mBan NY – a group dedicated to celebrating Celtic Fire festivals.
