Architects in Schools Exhibition

Free

Transition year students with architectural graduate Jacinta Delaney Curley

About Architects in Schools Exhibition

This is a national exhibition created by Transition Year students, teachers and architects in response to three key themes, taking inspiration from the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life's Irish Folklife collection. This exhibition is a collaboration between the Irish Architecture Foundation and the National Museum of Ireland.

This exhibition features 2D drawings and 3D models and were made in workshops by young people, in collaboration with architects and teachers. The exhibits are displayed in different locations throughout the Museum. An exhibition map is available to guide you on this exhibition trail. There are a number of objects in the Irish Folklife collection that link to the exhibition themes so keep an eye out for them!

The youth voice is central to this exhibition. A specially commissioned film Architects in Schools: The Student Voice was produced where you can hear young people share their views and ideas about architecture and the built environment.

Ongoing Collaboration between National Museum of Ireland and the Irish Architecture Foundation

There is a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National Museum of Ireland and the Irish Architecture Foundation since 2020. The purpose of this MOU is to provide a framework for collaboration between both organisations in relation to areas of mutual interest and potential benefit.

Established in 2005, the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF) is an independent organisation dedicated to the promotion of architecture as culture. The IAF’s mission is to champion the power of architecture to transform lives and improve the places where we live, learn, work and play.
