Sharing Stories Through Animation with Kim Sharkey

We’re celebrating Cruinniú na nÓg 2021 with an exciting art workshop with artist Kim Sharkey, inspired by objects from the collections at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History.

This pre-recorded workshop will focus on the theme of storytelling using clay animation with multi media artist Kim Sharkey. Inspired by the Museum's Japanese print collection, Kim will show you how to stretch your storytelling imagination by combining clay slab rolling and modelling techniques. Using different materials, you will be shown how to create a character with a movable head and arms which can be used for your own stop motion animation. Storytelling is at the center of every museum experience. Stories bring our Museum objects to life, so join us and learn how to craft your own animation!

Please note this content is pre-recored and will be published on the Museum's YouTube at 1pm on Saturday, June 12th.
