Make your own Paper Roll Animation

Paper Scroll Animation, inspired by the extraordinary Stokes Tapestry!

We have teamed up with artist Helena Gouveia Monteiro to guide you through a step by step video tutorial taking direct inspiration from the architectural surround of Dublin 7 and the Museum collections of Collins Barracks. D7 is home to the Museum’s Decorative Arts & History collection, housed in the iconic site of Collins Barracks. Helena will show you how to create a Paper Scroll Animation, inspired by the extraordinary Stokes Tapestry.

The Stokes Tapestry is a remarkable object, measuring eight feet by four and showing 250 different figures in 31 panels of inlaid felt patchwork, created by one man over several years, Stephen Stokes, born in Plymouth in 1802 and enlisted in the army as a boy. Discover this amazing tapestry on display in the Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition at Collins Barracks!
