Public Tour: Centenary of Handover of Collins Barracks

Free Admission

Clarke Square in Collins Barracks Grounds
Join us here at Collins Barracks for a series of tours commemorating the centenary of the handover of one of the oldest military barracks in the world.

On the 17th of December 1922, General Sir Nevil Macready of the British Army handed over the Royal Barracks to Commander-in-Chief of the National Army of the Irish Free State General Richard Mulcahy.

It was immediately renamed in honour of Mulcahy’s predecessor Michael Collins, and is still known today as Collins Barracks.

Booking not required, however spaces are limited. While spaces are offered on a first-come first-served basis, the tour on the 17th of November at 2pm will prioritise visitors who require ISL interpretation.
