Key Information and Updates

Key Information and Updates for the NMI Schools Programme

Due to the temporary closure of NMI - Natural History for essential works we are currently unable to facilitate our previous arrangements of onsite school group visits.

Please keep an eye on our website here for the most up-to-date information regarding visiting the Museum, or contact the Bookings Office at if you have any further queries. The Bookings Office is open from 9am to 5pm Tuesday – Friday.

Museum in the Classroom

While it’s not possible for you to arrange a class visit to the NMI – Natural History, you can still explore the Museum virtually, as well as engage with the National Collections, through our website. We have launched a new programme of online events, activities and resources for teachers, which are curriculum-linked and designed to complement classroom learning, whilst also being engaging and enjoyable. A variety of themes and topics are explored, for both Primary and Post-Primary students, on the Schools and Teachers page of each Museum site. These resources will be updated throughout the term, so we would advise visiting these webpages regularly.

Please find a link to the Primary level resources at the NMI - Natural History here and the Post-Primary level resources here

We have developed Virtual Sessions for primary schools with Museum Educators, which cover specific curriculum-linked topics and can be viewed here. These sessions are available at scheduled times and must be booked.

You can contact the Bookings Office at to make a virtual session booking or if you have any further queries about any of the Education Department’s online resources.
