The National Museum of Ireland is inviting you to explore the legacy of the 1916 Easter Rising through a series of tours, interactive handling sessions, online pop-up talks and exhibitions at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks.
Explore the history of women's activism during the revolutionary era of 1913 -1923, reflect on the legacy of the 1916 Easter Rising or discover the experiences of ordinary Irishmen and women involved in World War I, the 1916 Rebellion, the War of Independence and Irish Civil War, and how all these events affected combatants and civilians alike.
All events are free and no booking is required.

Imaging Conflict; photographs from revolutionary era Ireland 1913-1923
Imaging Conflict displays 150 images and five original photograph books from the Museum's collection relating to the Irish revolutionary era of 1913 – 1923, as well as images of Irish men and women in conflicts overseas. The majority of the images have not been on display publicly before. It also examines the production and consumption of photographic images in conflict situations and how they can be used as propaganda. FIND OUT MORE
Irish Wars 1919 to 1923
This exhibition explores new theme interpretations such as civil disobedience, imprisonment, hunger strike, propaganda, women in warfare and the effects of the conflict on civilian populations – all of which aims to increase public understanding of this complex period in Ireland’s history. Soldiers and Chiefs - The Irish at War at Home and Abroad from 1550 to the present day
The award-winning Soldiers & Chiefs exhibition traces Ireland's military history from 1550 into the 21st Century, using over 1,000 objects from all over the world over 1,700 square metres of Collins Barracks, the oldest military barracks in Ireland. This exhibition uses original artefacts, letters, replicas and interactives to show how soldiering and warfare have affected the lives of Irish people, both combatant and civilian, at home and abroad.
