Celebrate the richness and diversity of culture in Ireland this Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir 2025

Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir 2025 is an annual all-island public event and a great opportunity for people to enjoy a range of specially programmed cultural activities at hundreds of participating locations, including museums, theatres, galleries, arts centres and more. 

This year, Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir takes place on Friday, 19 September. 

The National Museum of Ireland is a long time supporter and participant of Culture Night and the Museum invites members of the public to visit, explore, engage with and enjoy our National Collections at four Museum sites in Dublin and Mayo. Find out more below. 

Culture Night is supported by the Arts Council and local authorities across the island of Ireland and all activities are made available to the public free of charge.


Culture Night at Collins Barracks

Drop into the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks for an evening of tours, trails and tactile sessions. Activities on the evening include a hands-on history session allowing you to handle a selection of historical objects related to fashion, grooming, and leisure activities of times past, from elegant accessories and grooming tools used to prepare for a night on the town, to the more intimate items associated with domestic entertainment and relaxation. Other tours invite you to view the Museum’s exhibitions through alternative lenses, bringing some hidden histories and perspectives to the fore. While Museum Educators will be on hand to answer any curious questions about your favourite animal on display in the Dead Zoo Lab.

Late Night Opening at Turlough Park

National Museum of Ireland,
Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co May

Visit the popular temporary exhibition The Murmur of Bees and explore various themes from the National Folklife Collection including trades and crafts, life in the home, life in the community, clothing, textiles, farming and fishing.

 National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, main museum galleries will be open late from 6pm until 9pm. Admission, as always, is free. FIND OUT MORE

Come to the Museum for Culture Night and follow on a free guided tour, or visit the temporary exhibition 'Words on the Wave: Ireland and St. Gallen in Early Medieval Europe'.
Join the 'Early Medieval Ireland; Ireland to St. Gallen' introductory tour at 5pm or 7:30pm, or join a 'Highlights of the National Museum of Ireland’s Archaeology Collection' at 6:30pm.
