Culture Night is a national moment, which seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day. Late Opening at the National Museum of Ireland- Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks.

The National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History is located at one of Dublin’s most impressive, historic sites.
This former military barracks is home to two fascinating and completely diverse collections. Decorative arts encompasses silver, ceramics, glassware, furniture, clothing, jewellery and coins while the military history collection tells of Ireland’s military and revolutionary past. Admission is free.
Culture Night: From Barracks to Museum: An Introduction to Collins Barracks
5pm, 6pm, 7pm Friday, 23 September. Families
Find out about the lives of soldiers living in the Barracks from the 1700s until the late 1900s, as well as the transition from one of Europe’s oldest occupied Barracks into one of Ireland’s National Museums. Along the way discover some of the highlights from the Museum’s history and decorative arts exhibitions.

Built in 1856, the National Museum of Ireland - Natural History is a magnificent Victorian artefact in its own right.
Sometimes described as ‘a museum of a museum’, it houses a wide-ranging and comprehensive zoological collection of more than 10,000 exhibits. Visitors can explore Irish mammals, birds, fish and insects, as well as mammals from around the world. Admission is free. Booking is required.

Victorian and contemporary architecture combine at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life.
In the modern exhibition galleries, immerse yourself in objects, rare archive photography and films that explore Ireland’s rural past and an almost vanished but recent way of life. Next to this, visit a Victorian Gothic mansion overlooking gardens, parkland and woodland.

Culture Night: Highlight Tour of the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology

Join in this tour and discover what life was like from Stone Age to Medieval Ireland. Learn about striking ground stone axes from the Neolithic, gold objects from the Bronze Age and iconic Early Medieval treasures of the ‘Tara’ Brooch and the Ardagh Chalice.
