Travellers' Journey

An exploration of Irish Traveller Culture

Travellers’ Journey is a temporary exhibition exploring the rich culture, traditions and crafts of the Traveller community. The exhibition aims to showcase and encourage discussion and appreciation of the unique heritage of this community.  This exhibition has been curated in partnership with the Western Regional Traveller Health Network.  The exhibition was launched by President Michael D. Higgins on July 10th and continues until May 2019.

Tinsmith is a film commissioned by the Heritage Office and the Social Inclusion Office of Galway County Council, and funded by Creative Ireland Programme, 2017-2022.  The film is made by Merchants Gate Film, with Director Paul Murphy and Cameraperson Ivan Marcos. It  features the tinsmith work of Edward Ward, and includes footage of Travellers’ Journey exhibition launch at the Museum on 10th July 2018.
