On Sight 2019

On Sight 2019 – Awarding of commission to Niamh McCann

The National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Mayo County Council Arts Service and Mayo Artsquad are pleased to announce that the artist Niamh McCann has been awarded the commission for On Sight 2019.

Niamh McCann is a Dublin-based visual artist who currently works out of the Fire Station Artists Studios (FSAS). Niamh’s submission titled IMRAM Pavilion proposes an outdoor sculptural work that will reflect on traditional craft-making and architecture, to create an innovative, contemporary new art-work. NMI – Country Life and Mayo County Council Arts Service look forward to working with Niamh over the summer months in the preparation and creation of her work for installation in the grounds of NMI - Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, in September.

Niamh McCann is recipient of various Arts Council of Ireland awards, and fellowships at Cemeti Arthouse, Indonesia; HIAP, International Artists' Residency, Helsinki, Finland, URRA Artist Residency, Argentina and of Perspective and EV+A exhibition awards.

Her work is represented in the collections of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the OPW, Limerick City Gallery, Swansea City Council, The London Institute and the Hiscox Collection, London.
