Aoife Hurley

Head of Operations

Aoife Hurley was appointed Head of Operations in November 2019 and has responsibility for overseeing the management of the Museum’s Corporate Affairs, ICT, Facilities and Security, Finance, Marketing and Commercial Development departments.

Aoife’s background is in Architecture, mainly the conservation of historic buildings. She graduated with an honours degree in Architecture from University College Dublin and holds postgraduate qualifications in Applied Building Repair and Conservation from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Sustainable Heritage from the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies in University College London and an MSc in Construction Project Management from Waterford Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining NMI, Aoife worked as a conservation architect for 15 years in the Heritage Services division of the Office of Public Works and has worked on a variety of projects in historic sites and buildings such as IMMA at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin Castle, The Four Courts and Aras an Uachtaráin. Aoife is a member of the Royal Institutes of Architects of Ireland, serving as a committee member of the Historic Buildings Committee for a number of years, the Buildings Limes Forum and ICOMOS Ireland.
