Tin Whistle

Tin whistle crafted by a member of the Irish Traveller Community 20th century. Tin.

The Irish Traveller Community has made a significant contribution to traditional Irish music. Traveller communities have a rich oral tradition where music is often used to tell stories and record events. Throughout history, Travellers were custodians of music, and practical skills such as metalworking, from town to town in Ireland. These skills were passed from generation to generation, providing sources of income and sustaining an important part of Traveller culture.
