Made of tinplate

Half pint milk measure

This measure was purchased from Donnellan’s shop, Athenry, Co Galway. Many tinsmiths sold directly to shops as well as selling their goods themselves door-to-door on routes they travelled annually in the summer time.

The measure is made of tinplate. It is 7cm in diameter at the base and 9cm high and the diameter at the top is 6.4cm. The measure is provided with a strap handle, in the form of a loop, soldered to the side of the measure.
