Newspaper cutting with photograph of Annie MacSwiney, sister of Terence MacSwiney, on hunger strike outside Mountjoy Jail, where her sisters were on hunger strike inside during the Civil War (1922). Hunger strike was a powerful weapon throughout the revolutionary years 1914 to 1922, from Thomas Ashe's Mountjoy hunger strike in 1917 to the Civil War hunger strikes.
