Sunday 7th December, 1pm-4:30pm, All Ages
Open Day: Medieval Christmas at the Museum
Free Admission
As mid-winter draws near, roam through the galleries at the National Museum of Ireland Kildare Street to discover how people spent their time in winters past, the games they played, and how they kept themselves safe on long and dangerous pilgrimages.
Pick up our Medieval Christmas Trail and roam through the galleries to answer the questions, and on your way, meet with re-enactors from Laoch Living History. Discover a pilgrim on a journey, the world of medieval Irish women, a monk and his writings, a games master with ancient games, and, if you are not feeling too well, make sure you go to the barber surgeon for your ailments! In our Learning Resource Room, meet with Museum Educators and make your own Christmas card to take home, using calligraphy and medieval interlace!
No booking required. Located throughout the Museum galleries. Partially wheelchair accessible. Please note that the craft is taking place in the Learning Resource Room on the first floor and is not wheelchair accessible.
