Join two of the region's leading choral groups for an atmospheric afternoon of Christmas carols in the exhibition galleries from 3pm on Sunday, 17 December.

These performances with the Mayo Male Voice Choir and the Cill Aodain Choral Society have become a firm festive favourite with Museum visitors over the last number of years. Visitors can enjoy a repertoire of classic and contemporary Christmas carols and choral pieces.

The Mayo Male Voice Choir will be here at 3pm under the direction of Deirdre Lee. The Cill Aodain Choral Society will perform at 4pm under the direction of Finola Higgins-Cosgrove. 

About the Mayo Male Voice Choir

Established in 2000, the Mayo Male Voice Choir has grown from strength to strength and now has more than 50 members who travel from all parts of Co Mayo to rehearse and perform together. The choir has been under the direction of the very accomplished and talented Ms Deirdre Lee since its inception. Deirdre is a music teacher at St Joseph’s Secondary School and her expertise and experience are invaluable to the choir.

The Mayo Male Voice Choir are also performing in Ballintubber Abbey at 8pm on Thursday, 14 December, and at the arrivals area of Ireland West Airport Knock at 3pm on Friday, 22 December. 

About the Cill Aodain Choral Society

Formed in Kiltimagh in 1994, the Cill Aodain Choral Society has received numerous awards and choral competitions and performed across Ireland and internationally. The group has grown in membership and experience over the years under the accommplished direction of Finola Higgins-Cosgrove. They have staged many successful shows and accompanied leading artists in concert such as Rebecca Storm and Tommy Fleming. There are more than 50 members who meet and practice weekly in Kiltimagh, Co Mayo.
