from 'Plans and Description of Economic Implements used in the Execution of Public Works) British Parliamentary Papers: Famine Ireland, Vol. 6, Irish University Press.
This exhibition takes the 175th anniversary of 1847, or 'Black '47' to recognise this momentous period in modern Irish history. At present the National Museum of Ireland (NMI) is working on 20th Century History of Ireland exhibition galleries. It is the NMI's intention that in the future a related series of galleries examining Irish history from 1600 to 1900 will include more extensive detail on the Great Irish Famine.
